Hello sweet readers,
For the last two years I have been volunteering on the RMHF Gala Committee. A few years ago I had started to think about how I wanted to give back to my community. I did’t really know what I wanted to do and I knew I had only a limited amout of time each month to give. Raising tiny humans, running a household and working part time was not easy for me.
I was chatting with Amyeen and he suggested I talk to the ladies working in the foundation office. I just thought I’d volunteer stuffing envelopes or something once a week! I really did not know what to expect going into my introduction meeting. The hospital is near and dear to our heart as our daughter was born there and Amyeen has been working there for quite some time now.
At my initial meeting I was told about an opportunity to become a member on the gala committee. We had attended the gala in the past but helping organzie it intrigued me. I jumped at the chance and am now going into my 3rd year.
Choosing a theme, helping with decor, organzing prizes & of course food tastings were all up my alley so to speak.
I have been and continue to learn so much from the ladies on this committee and where our fundraising dollars go.
My experience on this committee helped me also become a memeber of our childrens school fundraising gala committee as well as now helping organize some fun events with the World Partnership Walk.
We just wrapped our school fundraiser and now it is time to start planning for the next hospital gala! The timing is working well with my schedule and allows me to help with all 3 organizations...for now. We have our first meeting tonight and I can’t wait to share the planning process for the this year’s gala with you all so stay tuned.
